For D
My friend D is very sad at the moment.
I've been using this song as my mantra of strength. Go Pip!!

If I let Flo listen to TMBG it is officially morning, but if (as she just requested) I put a bit of Belle & Sebastian on she almost immediately goes to sleep.
She's right!
The new TMBG album seriously fucking rocks! And B&S are boring as fuck....but whatever works....works!

Right, I might be a bit biased about this. Personally, I don't think so...seriously, they're genius!!!!
I am stunned. Seen 'em live....love 'em...EP? great...this, this, this is wonderful!!
1 - Apple Crack : Classic Babel sound...Country/Folk/Blues with a joyously crisp feel.
2 -Never Had The Heart : ZOMFG. I have no words....5 stars!
3 - End Of The Line : A rest...Such a beautiful song...ephemeral backing to
4 - Hand Me Down : In my opinion, this song's lyrics can only be truly appreciated by a parent. The electric guitar is sublime; pure Gram Parsons....wonderful!
5 - Police Car : I started crying after the second line and laughed, wept, and enjoyed myself for the whole 4 minutes...
6 - Cellophane, Jam or the Line : Why does the intro remind me of something from he 80's TV?......I'm joking of course, the songwriting/orchestration on this is fucking stellar
7 - Make Your Bed : Finally! The best song in the world...you HAVE to see this live!!
8 - Repeat to Fade : Twangy. Funking with a slide guitar is always a good idea IMHO. For some reason I find this a bit of a dark one. Gorgeous strings and harmonies again.
9 - Seachange : Atmospheric...love the whistles....and the xylophone...has one of my fave build ups...where the hell did all that clapping come from?
10 - Trinity Thugs : I think I heard him say: "Dirty little bastard cunt"...regardless. The best song on the album (unless i said that already...in which case it's still the best)
11 - Piece Of Me : I thought it was PJ Harvey, and then it softly kicked me in the face....you wrongfoot me again Babel....you fucking wonderful bastards!!! sounds like AC/DC learnt about Led Zep but got stoned with Dylan and The Merry Pranksters out in the mojare!
12 - Rubbernecking : I would go gay for this...seriously.
13 - Hard to Love You : Is this the same chords/progression as song 1? Regardless...I thought this was suddenly Gram Parsons....it is a wonderful "goodbye" song...wicked fucking solo!

The camera on my HTC Diamond (yeah, be jealous fuckers!) freaked out on Sunday and suddenly stopped displaying what the lens was pointing at (no, I'm not describing this well am I?), but I thought it was a more serious hardware fault and so it was not actually taking any pictures. Well a hard-reset later and it seems it was taking photos...
Anyway, before it broke Flo treated me to her Michael Parkinson impression (although, I'm not quite sure what the "rabbit face" is about).
We had an awesome day messing around in the garden and then wandered round the museum for a bit before going for "froffy mi-ulk" and some lunch. Then it was back to the ranch for some rockin' out on the guitars and some pretend bakery...I had apple pie, biscuits and croissants....all made out of stones.
Might take the proper camera to Slartibrava this week, but I'm travelling as light as possible...hmmm, perhaps time to break out the Scott E-Vest I have knocking around my coat rack.
And I haven't forgotten about the "mixtape". I've just found two awesome new tracks to go on there so it's provisionally due next weekend (I'll bosh it together when I get back) as I'll be listening to it while I finish cleaning my floor (no Flo next weekend, boo00!)...I'm thinking of calling it "May 'n' All Pro Laps"!

A small personal reference to the more prevalent Google searches bringing traffix my way...that Autofelation post is doing better than I'd ever thought possible! Mostly in terms of lonely teenage boys (just guessing) from France or Argentina (not guessing)...Tigers, Lions and Tattoos are also quite popular hits; by far the best is "ginger lion cunts", closely followed by "angry ginger cocks"....perhaps the last was a deliberate attempt to find me.
In other news, the new work laptop is working out better than I could have hoped. Dual-core, decent RAM, XP not Vista...but still a corporate build, ugh...lighter, quieter and with a swishy wide screen though I'm still not convinced by the layout for the "nipple"/buttons/trackpad, and Page Up/Down and the cursor buttons are, well, too close and confusing. I really don't need a powerful laptop for work these days because I essentially spend my time using hideously unwieldy Excel spreadsheets that do arcane Windows/VB stuff with a Web App, attempt to become a PowerPoint demon (instead of the "hello, i am technical...here are some pictures and poorly explained acronyms" style I have cultivated), Email and Web/RSS...oh and I draw things using Dia.
I started this post intending to simply point everyone to Tek's reminiscence post here...way too many of my own favourites to pass up the opportunity to just link....I've been thinking of doing a "mixtape" thing for a while now. I'm pretty certain only Gaz will ever bother downloading it, but maybe I'll just do it...what is copyright anyway?
Those tiger pictures, by the way, are awesome! Nice one bro....

...Noooooo!
Huge thanks to M&D who brought down a load of "long lost" books, some records and my piano this weekend.
I am more than a little rusty to say the least.

You may have noticed a post appear and then disappear this week. Thanks to Gaz "The Voice of Reason"(TM) Evans for pointing out I could have just emailed the person that caused the vitriol.
Anyway, we shall not mention this matter again ;)
Also, big props to Gaz for yet another awesome mixtape...I'm working on a return favour for that.
And then of course, something to write about.
Telling your 18 month old daughter to 'be careful' when climbing on stuff doesn't (always) work. Flo took a tumble yesterday, cut her lip and banged her head. She was OK after a few minutes cuddling and dabbing at her mouth with ice-cubes wrapped in a (yes, clean!) washcloth. She then took to applying the cold compress to my head...maybe she'll be a doctor when she's older.
Watching 'But' (that's Bod to you lot).
You really should follow the layout instructions with these damn trainset things!
Errr....WTF?!?
Ooooh, I see. A tenner well spent!!
Righteous props to Gazatron for another sonic intervention....top mix, lad!
I do believe that Jungle Joe is coming down on Friday...then we're off to see the (potential) new Parental Yard down Exeter way (yay, nearness). I've got loads of work to do before the Easter holidays...bah!
My deepest sympathies to Sked on the loss of his brother...Death sucks.
Fantastic!
Thanks Buck (I assume)!

Dancing with sunbeams....
It got pretty intense...foot-stamping, hand-waving and shouting...
I must have had the luckiest couple of days I've ever had...long story short:
- I'm owed quite a lot of money...and a considerable bit extra per month from now on!
- I don't have to go to Paris tomorrow...and the early April trip looks a bit easier now
- Interflora boosted their fuck-up bouquet with some chocolates. Sorry for swearing Ma...
Dinner!
- Flo. Is. Hilarious!
- And gorgeous at the same time
- I went to the best ever school musical thing last night with Missman: Return To The Forbidden Planet, in Bristolian!!...it was the best theatre I have ever seen!....there is no sarcasm here...just a sly grin.
- Loving, loving, loving being with Teh Laydee...without wishing to get all ghey or anything
- I have mastered that chinese 'seaweed' thing you get in chinese restaurants (the stuff that isn't actually seaweed...it's greens/cabbage)....mine's no-fat, no-salt...and really tasty.
The other picture made it look even more like jazz-baccy ;)
Oh. Hi to Liz, who I bumped into last Sunday....Teh Ricolah: let's go for drinks instead!...and Riobard del Brono: return my calls you bastard!
Got the new Gruff Rhys album, Candylion...it's ace! Gave Missman the cardboard candylion model it came with. She's good at that putting things together stuff so it seemed appropriate.
Bristol's hilly. I sometimes forget quite how hilly...except when walking up the buggers.
Hilly.
Teh Byottifarl Chile and I are both super-tired. She went to bed at 6:30, it's 8ish now and I'm not far behind her.
Last night I displayed my ginger-strength for Missman by accidentally (ha!) ripping a door off the wall, played someone else's guitar which I praised & cursed at the same time and then made 'sex noise' in my sleep...I contend I was dreaming of the iPhone!
Today I mostly got caffeinated then got ripped off here (don't believe a word of it) with Missman and bought what looks like a great book from a Charidee Shop for £6 . Bargain!
Flotos for you....I sleep now!

Another wonderful day with Teh Byootifarl Wun. Despite being mega-tired the whole day was fun....Now I am exceptionally tired.
We went dancing to some gipsy-folk music, to the farm (as usual) and we played guitars and sang....and ate!
I dont make her smile...she just does :)
Soon we are moving to Saturday night stayover and whole Sundays! Yay!
See what I mean....?
On a related but different subject, I have a huge 'I told you so but kept quiet because I know you too well' thing to tell.....but I wont. Because I knew all along the outcome would be as it out came....as it were.

What this doesn't get across is that she was dancing to Bob Dylan with those shades on!
Also...Curtaindale I hope your hanger wasn't too raggy...you missed out....and each time you drive me round that corner in Hotwells you scare the eggs out of me!
View with your eyes....Teh Byootifarl Wun!
The bowl is empty...it's just that I'd put it on her head...she is SCREAMING into it!
Video now follows....you are spoilt, aren't you?
Cat!
Duck!
Annoying Car!
