Telling your 18 month old daughter to 'be careful' when climbing on stuff doesn't (always) work. Flo took a tumble yesterday, cut her lip and banged her head. She was OK after a few minutes cuddling and dabbing at her mouth with ice-cubes wrapped in a (yes, clean!) washcloth. She then took to applying the cold compress to my head...maybe she'll be a doctor when she's older. Watching 'But' (that's Bod to you lot).
You really should follow the layout instructions with these damn trainset things! Errr....WTF?!?

I do believe that Jungle Joe is coming down on Friday...then we're off to see the (potential) new Parental Yard down Exeter way (yay, nearness). I've got loads of work to do before the Easter holidays...bah!
Most of the weekend (and today on my bleedin' holiday), but Sunday was sunny.
Bumbled about with Flo, and then with Flo & Joe, and then with Tola Flo & Joe....I will abide by their protestations that they hate having photos taken and save them for Flo to look at.

Joe phoned to say they'd arrived in Bristol and were in a supermarket, what was I planning for tomorrow? Turns out they were in the shop 5 minutes from me. So Uncle Joe, Tola and Julia popped in for a cup of tea and a play with Flo while I cooked her dinner...I was too flustered to get pics...tomorrow.
Given how absolutely kackered she was, she was admirable. Didn't bat an eyelid at 'strangers' (will have to do something about that...not the not-eyelid-batting; the Joe = stranger thing), played with them happily, refused to say 'Shoes' (her 1st properly pronounced, contextually used word?)...and generally confused Joe.
My goodness my flat is small. The toys strewn everywhere doesn't help, but 4 people in my (well, 5 with Flo) tiny little kingdom is the absolute max....unless I start befriending midgets of course.
Joe also brought the new kit for the "Cheap and Stealthy Animal Capture Cam". I am so impressed...sure there's 4 or 5 things to solder up and there'll have to be some tweaking to position the PIR correctly for the lens & focus...and it will need some adjustments for infrared capture...and also a solar recharging circuit to add..but the price, which works out at about £15 without delivery is great (though the delivery is apparently not)...so the uber-tricked-out version will still be less than £30! Capacitor, PIR, Battery box, Junction Board, Camera Board....yay!

Um. No pics I'm afraid...I forgot until about 2 mins before Flo had to go home to bed and the one shot I got she grabbed at the phone (yes, the new camera has still not arrived) and all I got was a blurry shot of what is apparently both hands reaching for the lens...and nothing else.
So, to placate your ire I am seeing if I can upload an older (good quality) vid of Ma (Granny Jan to you lot) playing 'Faerie Cloth' with Lil ages ago. A game which is still enjoyed today...it's amazing how much she's grown! Lil that is, not Granny Jan. I have The Black Hole to watch/burn this evening and I can also hear fireworks for the first time since January...they start early round here & it often develops into running street battles between gangs of yute with rockets etc...fun huh?
Babel (man I hate MySpace, sorry Chris) gig on Friday night, which should be ace as Pugh, Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble, Grubb ('Tom' is so much easier to type, and to read) is down for the weekend...Finally, Joe is coming back at the weekend. To the country that is, not necessarily Briz...apparently he has a cast of a huge tiger footprint (which is teh big? you decide: cast / tiger / footprint) and a photo of the dude that made it for Flo...will be great to see you again Brah!
[start update] Bah! My bad....seems I did actually upload a dupe to YouTube, though why it took about an hour to tell me after the upload I don't know...now uploading the correct file...also, have switched to Google Reader instead of Bloglines....not convinced yet (about 80%)...
Anyway, apparently the new camera is dispatched and should be here soon (not likely in time for Sunday) and I'm wondering what to do with Teh Chile this Sunday. Might we (finally) go to the Zoo? Might save that for when Joe's down...Shall we go to Softplay? And interact with Mouthbreathers...no...
